Face of the resistance

Let´s take a walk tonight on memory lane
when the days seemed endless and nothing in vain
Can you keep a secret – if you haven´t already knew
That day out on that meadow I fell for you

I saw you love, I saw you bleed
I saw you doubting in the things
that you might need

And would I´ve been a better man
than the men you had
And would I always cheer you up
when you felt that lost and sad

And wouldn´t you throw me out when
you get bored of my guitar
Or would you keep your faith in me
that one day I´ll be a star
And although you´d find out
I´m a fool `bout economic sytems
But I´d be so in love with that
face of the resistance

I found a box of letters you wrote to me
Looks like they were so close
your younger you and my younger me
You wanted to try it all
and God knows that you did
While I was sittin´ at home
and dreaming of my first hit

I read you change maybe to
the one you´re now
Talkin´ so eloquent in a famous TV show

And would I´ve been a better man ...

And now you´ve been around
a few times, just like me
And did you ever wonder
how it would be ?
If we´d meet again, would we

laugh about yesterday´s tears
Would we even remember them
after all these years ?
And would I´ve been a better man ?

And would I´ve been a better man
Than the men you had
And would I always cheer you up
when you felt that lost and sad
And wouldn´t you throw me out
When you get bored of my guitar
Or would you keep your faith in me
that one day I´ll be a star
And although you´d find out
I´m a fool `bout economic sytems
And with your life well
would I be consistent
Even if you sent me off
I´d have to be insistent
That I´d be so in love with that
face of the resistance

And would I´ve been a better man
Would I´ve been a better man
