21 men
21 men I´ve sent to the grave
Some outlaws, some killers, some cowards, some brave 21 men, there´s blood on my hands
Some were my rivals and some once my friends
I know they will hunt me until the end
Led by Pat Garrett who once was my friend
We slept out in the desert, so many times
I shared my last bread with you, two of a kind
I saw you robbing and killing like me
The plains were our home, we were young and so free The badge that they gave you can´t free you from sin If I had known that it´s just my wheels that you spin A shot in the dark or a knife at your throat
But now I have to carry that load
21 men I´ve sent to the grave
Some outlaws, some killers, some cowards, some brave 21 men, there´s blood on my hands
Some were my rivals and some once my friends I know there are rumours - I tell you it´s true
That sheriff Pat Garrett will make twenty-two
We stole cattle and horses, hundreds and more
Danced with the ladies and slept with the whores
Took care of the horses on Pete Maxwell´s ranch
As they killed John Tunstall well I swore revenge
They were Dolan´s men : Evans, Morton and Hill
Buckshot Roberts we killed down at Blazer´s Mill
You know he shot Richard straight in the head
And now it´s me you want to see dead
21 men I´ve sent to the grave
Some outlaws, some killers, some cowards, some brave 21 men, there´s blood on my hands
Some were my rivals and some once my friends
I´ve got a bullet that brings me more fame
And that special bullet it wears Garrett´s name
